Frequently Asked Questions

The reports include full findings and explanation of damp related problems and are generally set out as follows:

• Covering letter – with survey and client details
• External Observations – highlighting any defects or causes of internal problems
• Damp findings – either room by room or to specific areas, with readings and visual findings
• Timber findings – as above
• Conclusion – explanation of cause of defect
• Treatments – different available methods of treatment
• Recommendations – Our personal recommendations based on property and defect
• Budget Costs
• Sketch plans
• Data sheets – where relevant
• Photos included throughout the report sections

I will need the following details to program the survey in, these should be emailed to info@srsurveyors.co.uk:

• The Survey Address
• Whether the property is currently occupied or vacant
• Details of the vendor or estate agents
• Your postal address and contact number

If the property is currently vacant I can usually arrange to collect keys from the estate agents within a couple of days depending on the location, if the vendors are still living at the property I am happy to liaise with them to arrange a suitable time and date to suit them (I am usually fairly flexible to suit working hours in order to get the survey book as soon as possible).

There may be a travel fee for anywhere outside of Huddersfield and surrounding areas, however, I do try to keep this to a minimum. Once I have received the postcode I can provide a final quote.

Additional fees may also be incurred for carrying out any intrusive works, all costs are listed on our services and fees page.

The survey fee is invoiced on completion of the report, the fee is due within 7 days of you receiving all of your documents and this can be paid by cheque or bank transfer. All payment details are printed at the bottom of the invoice.

As soon I receive authorisation from yourself, I will contact the estate agent to arrange a suitable date and time (as soon as possible), once confirmed I will be back in touch to confirm the survey date with you. Following the survey, I usually allow approximately 7-10 days in order to write up the report and sketch plans and have the document sent back to you.

I do understand that in some circumstances reports are required urgently, if this is the case please let me know and I may be able to make arrangements for a quick turnaround.
